My Summer Morning Routine
Summer is definitely close, and that for me means that in a few weeks I'll be finished uni for the year and I'll have 3 months off (woohoo). But now that the weather, and my weekly schedule, is changing, I wanted to share my typical morning routine for a normal, non uni summers day, including all the products I'd typically use. Keep reading to hear what my typical summers morning routine is...
Once I've woken up to blinding sunlight in my eyes or from being too hot under my duvet, I usually lay there until I've woken up properly; this usually takes 10-30 minutes depending on how much sleep I got the night before. Next thing is my coffee, which my boyfriend usually brings up for me, which I'll drink while scrolling through Instagram or Facebook on my phone; if I don't forget I normally take a multivitamin with my coffee. My favourite instant coffee is the Nescafe Azera Americano, which I have with two sugars and a splash of milk, I'm not really a breakfast person so the coffee is enough for me until lunch.
When I've finished my coffee in bed, I will get up and open the curtains (I never make the bed, go ahead and judge me) before getting ready for my shower. I tend to take my phone with me to the shower to listen to a Spotify playlist while I clean myself. I start off the shower by washing my face with the TZone Charcoal Purifying Facial Scrub to buff away any dead skin cells on my face, before moving onto my hair. The shampoo and conditioner I am currently using is the Elvive Nutri-gloss Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. After rinsing off my hair I'll wash my body; in the summer I like using a refreshing body wash like the Original Source Mint & Tea Tree shower gel, but today I'm using Sanctuary Spa Green Lemon and Orange Blossom body wash, which is just as refreshing as the Original Source one (Here is an old blog post about all my favourite shower products incase you wanna check that out). Before leaving the shower I'll also brush my teeth, my current toothpaste is the Oral B 3D White Brilliance toothpaste.
After getting out the shower, i'll put on my dressing gown and gently use a towel to wring off any excess water. I will typically use a hair dryer in the morning to dry my hair, but I start by only half drying my hair so it's still a little damp. I then apply my beloved Mark Hill Miracoilious Moroccan Argan Oil to the mids and ends of my hair to keep it soft and nourished throughout the day. I then continue to dry off the rest of my hair with the hair dryer, brushing with my Pineapple Scented De-Tangle Brush to get rid of any knots.
Once I've dried off, dried my hair and gotten dressed for the day, it's time to prep my skin for the day ahead. I start by applying some Rodial Stem Cell Magic Gel which retains the skin's hydration balance and smooths the appears of pores and wrinkles and leaves my skin energized and glowy, perfect for an early start on a summers morning. I like to apply a small dab of Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Gel under my eyes to help refresh and hydrate the delicate are and make me look and feel more awake. I find these two products really make my face looks really fresh and awake; no one wants to look tired, especially when you have a busy summer planned. After the serum and eye cream has sunk in, I apply a light moisturiser all over my face and neck, this summer I am really loving the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser; this moisturiser contains vitamin E and zinc which helps to absorb excess oil on your face and mattifies the skin, leaving a perfect base to apply your makeup. If it's a particularly sunny day or I know i'll be spending most of the day outside, now is when i'll apply some sun cream to my face and body before getting dressed and doing my makeup; I like the Malibu Sun Lotion Spray in a medium SPF. To finish off my skincare, I like to apply some lip balm to keep my lips soft, hydrated and flake free, I am loving the Carmex Mint Lip Balm at the moment, it's very refreshing and smells yummy.
Next up is my makeup application; I am currently writing up a Summer Makeup Look blog post, so watch this space if you're interested in what my favourite summer makeup look is. After I've finished my makeup I usually get dressed, picking out an outfit usually takes a while. Typically in the summer I will reach for thin, loose dresses and flip flops so I don't get too hot and sweaty while I'm out in the sun. Lastly I move on to my hair, which is nice and smooth from drying it earlier, I tend to just leave it down because it's too hot to deal with eccentric hairdos, so I'll just part my hair and give it a brush, some days I'll put it up in a high ponytail to keep the hair off of my face.
By this point it's probably around lunch time, so my morning routine comes to an end and I can continue the day doing whatever summer activities I have planned. Thank you guys for reading my summer morning routine, I hope you all enjoyed it.
