How To Feel Better When You're Under The Weather

It's that time of year when the germs are out, floating from person to person, giving them terrible colds, sore throats and a miserable time. Unfortunately I was one of them victims and I've had a horrible couple of weeks fighting off a cough, cold, headaches and sore throat, which isn't ideal when I've got lots of uni work and blog posts to get on with. I wanted to share a few tips that have made me feel as good as I possibly could while coughing my lungs up and having a constant stream of snot running from my nose, so keep reading to find out my tip on how to make yourself feel better when you're under the weather.

If you don't have the luxury of staying in bed all day when you're feeling sick and you have to go to work or university, then remember not to push yourself too far and take breaks if you need them, the last thing you want is to push yourself too far and make yourself feel even worse. Remember to drink a lot throughout the day, bring a bottle of water with you so you can stay hydrated and flush out the bad toxins, it will also help keep headaches at bay. If you're not really into drinking water then you an always try a herbal tea, like ginger or chamomile tea, but what I like to drink when feeling sick is an Innocent smoothie, since they're 100% natural and contain lots of yummy ingredients. I love the Gorgeous Green smoothie, which contains apple, pear, kale and spinach. Along with staying hydrated, remember to eat something, even if you don;t really feel like it, but stick to mild foods like toast and butter and stay away from anything too salty or spicy. If you're feeling nauseous then ginger is best for keeping your stomach settled, so try some ginger tea or a ginger biscuit.

If you're having some time off to stay in bed and get better, you might find yourself feeling a little bored or like you're wasting time, even if you do feel a little ropey, but it's fine to have some time to rest and not worry about your work or deadlines; we all need a break from time to time so make the most of it and rest up. If you do feel bored just sitting about (like I did) then you can always watch something new on Netflix or read your favourite book or flick through a magazine. Even if you're staying in bed all day, you'll feel so much better once you've washed your face and brushed your teeth, so try and get to the bathroom to freshen up, trust me you'll feel more awake and human again. If you're up for it then a nice warm shower or bath will definitely make you feel better; light up a couple of candles and play some relaxing music while having a dunk in the bath. You can always light some candles in your bedroom too to make your room feel warm and comfortable. If you do have the luxury of staying cosy in bed then you''re gonna want to be wearing comfy clothes, like snugly pajamas, dressing gowns, fluffy socks, that sort of thing, and make sure you're staying comfortable with warm blankets.

Some products I like to use to help me feel a little better include:

Tiger/China Balm - pain reliever for achy joints, sore muscles and headaches

Olbas Inhaler Nasal Stick - to help relieve blocked sinuses and hey fever

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - to hide your under eye bags if you have to go outside

Honey & Lemon Lockets - lozenges for a sore throat or cough

I hope this post has made someone feeling sick a little better, I know it's horrible when you're feeling under the weather and you just want to get back on track. Remember it's okay to have some time to relax and focus on your health so make sure not to worry about work or life. Let me know any of your tips for feeling better in the comments below.
